About Students Against Genocide in Sudan

We are a coalition of students, educators, and human rights advocates dedicated to ending the horrific violence and genocide in Sudan, particularly in the Darfur region. Born from a commitment to ensuring that the atrocities of the past are never repeated, our movement is rooted in the belief that the global community, particularly its youth, must take decisive action to hold perpetrators and their enablers accountable. The current conflict, primarily waged by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and allied militias, has unleashed a humanitarian catastrophe, characterized by mass killings, ethnic cleansing against non-Arab communities like the Masalit, widespread sexual
violence, and a devastating hunger crisis. The United States has determined that the RSF and its allied militias have committed genocide. We are mobilized to raise awareness, create political will, and demand concrete steps for justice and peace for the Sudanese people.

Our Core Demands

Our campaign focuses on two critical levers to stop the flow of violence and hold complicit actors accountable: financial pressure and diplomatic isolation.

CalSTRS: Divest from Complicity

We call on the California State Teacher and Retirement System (CalSTRS)—a fund representing the educators of California—to immediately divest its investments in any companies and entities linked to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) that are enabling the genocide in Sudan.

UAE: End the Genocidal Campaign in Darfur

We demand that the government of the United Arab Emirates immediately cease all forms of military, logistical, and financial support for the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and allied militias operating in Sudan.
